Mr. Garofano, a 5th degree black belt, began his Taekwondo training in 1990 at the age of 10. He earned his first black belt by age 13 and won the New England sparring championships at age 15. Mr. Garofano has finished in the American Taekwondo Association world top ten for sparring in 1999, 2001 and 2002, finished in the World Top ten for ATA Xtreme form and weapons in 2009, top ten in Xtreme weapons in 2010 and a bronze medal for ATA Xtreme forms in 2010. He has also achieved number one in the state championships for traditional form, sparring and weapons from 2001 to present. Setting the example for his students, he is currently still competing. From 1999-2000 Mr. Garofano was the ambassador to Korea for the American Taekwondo Association. He has also achieved the rank of a certified instructor in Krav Maga. Currently Mr. Garofano is working on achieving his 6th degree black belt in Taekwondo and has the ultimate goal of mastership.
Mr Carfagno, a 3rd degree black belt, began his Taekwondo training at the age of 10, and earned his 1st degree black belt at age of 13. He has achieved the status of Certified Instructor and has been an on staff instructor for the past 6 years. Currently he is working on earning his Bachelors Degree in Computer Science. His goal is to become a 4th degree black belt.
School was founded at an 850 Square Foot Location by Mr. Michael Stack
Upon returning from Korea Mr. Garofano takes over as Chief Instructor and Owner. Mr. Stack goes on to pursue a career as an Architect and continues to instruct at the academy until present day.
To keep up with an expanding student base, ATA Tewksbury was moved to a 1,400 Square Foot Location.
Again, to keep up with an expanding student base, ATA Tewksbury was moved to a state-of-the-art 3,000 Square Foot facility.
